Knowledge in engineering and environmental science

ECOLOGY AND ECOSYSTEM

These are the notes of the subject of Environmental Science for engineering and are targeted to the subtopic of Ecology and Ecosystem. These will prove beneficial to both FY and SY Engineering students of all branches and help them to score good marks in their exams. NC: NIT WARANGAL

GREEN CHEMISTRY - ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY

These are the notes of the subject ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY for engineering and are targeted to one of the difficult subtopics of GREEN CHEMISTRY. These will prove beneficial to both FY and SY Engineering students of all branches and help them to score good marks in their exams.

WASTE WATER TREATMENT

Wastewater treatment is a process used to remove contaminants from wastewater or sewage and convert it into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle with minimum impact on the environment, or directly reused. The latter is called water reclamation because treated wastewater can be used for other purposes. The treatment process takes place in a wastewater treatment plant, often referred to as a Water Resource Recovery Facility or a Sewage Treatment Plant. Pollutants in municipal wastewater are removed or broken down.

BIO GEO CHEMICAL CYCLE

Biogeochemical Cycle Definition. A biogeochemical cycle is one of several natural cycles, in which conserved matter moves through the biotic and abiotic parts of an ecosystem. In biology, conserved matter refers to the finite amount of matter, in the form of atoms, that is present within the Earth.

ECOLOGICAL PYRAMIDS

An ecological pyramid is a graphical representation of the relationship between the different living organisms at different trophic levels. It was given by G.Evylen Hutchinson and Raymond Lindeman. It can be observed that these pyramids are in the shape of actual pyramids with the base being the broadest, which is covered by the lowest trophic level, i.e., producers. The next level is occupied by the next trophic level, i.e., the primary consumers and so on. All the calculations for the construction of these types of ecological pyramids must take into account all the organisms in a particular trophic level because a sample space of a few numbers or a few species will end up giving a huge level of errors.

USE OF WASTE PLASTIC UNDER THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS.

PLASTIC ARE THE COMMON THINGS IN OUR DAILY LIFE WE USE.ITS USENESS INCREASING DAY BY DAY AND MOREOVER IT IS NON-BIODEGRADABLE.SO, WE HAVE TO THINK HOW TO REDUCE THEM OR HOW TO USE IT IN OUR OWN WAY (CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS).SO, HERE IT SHOWS THE POSSIBLE WAY TO USE THE PLASTIC WITHOUT HARMING THE NATURE.

TREATMENT OF TEXTILE DYEING WASTEWATER BY APPLYING PHOTO FENTON OXIDATON TECHNOLOGY

WE ALL KNOW THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY WHERE DYES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS USED TO COLOURIFY THE CLOTHES. DYES ARE THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF INORGANIC COMPOUNDS OF POLYMERS AND ORGANIC COMPOUNDS. MOST OF THE MILLS DO NOT USE COUNTER WASHING INSTEAD THEY USE CLEAN WATER IN EVERY CYCLE.SO, THE WASTE WATER GOES TO RIVERS AND OTHER WATER SOURCES CAUSING WATER POLLUTION AND ALSO HARMING THE ZOOPLANKTON AND PHYTOPLANKTON. HERE, IT DESCRIBES PHOTO-FENTON OXIDATION TECHNOLOGY TO USE THE WASTE WATER.
